UKPA Open Sudoku and Puzzle Tournament 2026

The instruction booklets for the Puzzle Rounds are now available, although a couple have still to have points finalised. I intend to get the Sudoku ones out tomorrow along with the schedule for both days.
I'm hoping to be able to finalise the points and times by Monday. If anyone has any queries, please post questions here making it clear which round/puzzle you are querying.
As always, we've got some fantastic people that kindly provide wonderful sets of puzzles for you all to enjoy at the tournament. This includes the PAKO Puzzle Club from Turkie whose students are aged between 11 and 14.

Thanks for organising Liane! Looks like a fun set of rounds.

In round 5 Word Web, can words have repeated letters? If so how would the numbers work? I.e. do MALTA and CHINA have 1 or 2 letters in common?

It would be just one letter in common. Bunny and Funny would be 4

Minor typo that confused me when I printed the booklets - puzzles rounds 1 and 2 both are called "round 1"

Surf's Up definitely Puzzle round 1 and PAKO Puzzle Club round 2 - will fix

Minor point, but the first puzzle listed in Sudoku Round 5 would just be 'Clock Sudoku' rather than Clock Faces.

Clock Faces is something different with increasing numbers going around dots.
Unless that's what Sam set, and this is an incorrect example?

The example is the same puzzle type as the competition puzzle, so looks like a mistake with the name.

Sudoku round 2: I think there is a typo in the German Whispers solution, R6C3 should be 3 rather than 2.

In Tapa Islands (puzzle round 1), can an island contain multiple clue cells? If so, does its size have to match a number in every clue or just one of them?

Huge thanks to all our authors, testers, volunteers and of course the competitors that made this a successful Open Tournament .
I've heard back from the authors and they are happy for me to share their rounds here for everyone to enjoy.
