I nearly missed this, but the series has kicked off for another year and round 1 has been happening since last Friday. Note that the deadline has been exceptionally extended by one day so you have until the end of Tuesday to have a go if you haven’t already.

2022 WPF Sudoku GP
Re: 2022 WPF Sudoku GP
Preliminary results out from what I thought was a very tough opening round (although that might just have been me being maybe competition rusty and certainly sleep-deprived on Tuesday morning).
Top 3 UK:
13. Sam Cappleman-Lynes 573 - this equals the best ever UK placement in a Sudoku GP round, also achieved by Sam, well done!
28. Freddie Hand 495
65. Tom Collyer 414
Jeremy Kong was the only other UK participant in the top 100. A total of 38 UK participants does feel like quite a lot, so I for one hope they stick at it and see if they can progress.

Re: 2022 WPF Sudoku GP
So many competitors overall this year! It would be lovely to see that continue. I really liked the new arrow Sudoku but couldn’t find my error. It felt like it was close to being right but I couldn’t get the big one to add up properly.

Round 2 results, with apologies for posting with a delay:
41. Mark Goodliffe 486
47. Calum Mailer 463
53. Tom Collyer 453
A good amount of UK participation, again, although this time with no-one else troubling the top 100. Closest was Jack Lawrence back in 122.
I'm not sure if it was just me, but I thought the killer cages were a little unclear. I ended up missing one that crossed the border of a 3x3 box at the bottom and had to write off a good 10-20 minutes of solving time, which was a little frustrating in what was otherwise an enjoyable round.

Round 3 results, again with a bit of a delay:
16. Sam Cappleman-Lynes 624.3
54. Tom Collyer 448
58. Jack Lawrence 437
We also had Freddie Hand in the top 100, but otherwise not as much joy in the Sudoku GP for the UK contingent when compared to the Puzzle GP. Well done to Sam for finishing the set!
I should add on reflection that we are still seeing a really healthy number of UK competitors past the top 100, which is great to see! Perhaps the competition is a little bit hotter for the Sudoku GP?

Round 4 results:
23. Sam Cappleman-Lynes 530
40. Freddie Hand 465
58. Mark Goodliffe 428
Tom Collyer and Jack Lawrence also made the top 100.
I found these to be clever puzzles; nice puzzles to solve, but not necessarily against the clock. Then again, I'm feeling slow and way out of touch these days.

Re: 2022 WPF Sudoku GP
Is it just me, or is the Sudoku GP becoming a bit of a slog this year? Certainly not the best set of results we've seen as far as UK solvers go, although credit must go to Jack Lawrence's impressive top 50 performance.
Top 3 UK:
38. Jack Lawrence 465
73. Mark Goodliffe 400
105. Tom Collyer 355
