Re: croco-puzzle

What might help, too, is the information that the clues for the mirrors are on one side of the puzzle (right, bottom) and the clues for the passed squares are on the other (left, top). Knowing that you don't have to check every time if the clue is on the level of a line or on the level of a cell.

Re: croco-puzzle

Depending on the puzzle there are also other techniques that can be applied: - blacken numbers that are too big for the total value of a column/row - blacken numbers that can't be part of the sum for the total value (single odd number in row with even sum, etc.) - mark number as used that have to be...

Puzzle Portal

I think it's about time that someone introduces the Puzzle Portal of the German logic masters to you. The puzzle portal offers the possibility to publish new puzzle ideas to a bigger audience and to solve all the new puzzles other users designed. Usually the latter is the entry point for most users....

Re: croco-puzzle

Before anyone starts the quite hard skyscraper: It seems there was a minor bug which probably will cause a reset of this second puzzle, too. It is planned that puzzle #2 can already be started at 11pm, but those who tried it this night couldn't submit their answers :D. This also explains the interes...

Re: croco-puzzle

Thanks! I saw a good result for you in the Tapa today ;) Any tips? Didn't felt that fast when I was finished. So I'm quite happy it turned out this way, especially after my goal of reaching 4dan suffered a serious setback the last two weeks ;). Tips? Well, while it is still running I only tell you ...

Re: croco-puzzle

Just a short heads up as the news on the page are in German: Next monday (22th) the applets of the page will be replaced by a new version. As there might be errors at first the results of the whole day won't be taken into account for the rating and will be deleted at midnight.

No general rule I guess... As the applets are currently updated I'm not sure how long this information is correct but some puzzles where it might be interesting are: Fillomino: When finished the applet automatically adds borders between different numbers and then fills empty fields with numbers equa...

Re: croco-puzzle

It's not my puzzle. I'm the guy with the slitherlinks :D. Don't know how the puzzle author thinks about this. My personal opinion is, that everyone reading the spoiler before at least trying to solve it for himself simply misses the fun. So no harm done except some too curious people might lose the ...

Re: croco-puzzle

After 44 solvers without any comment like that I'm pretty sure it has a unique solution. But you can either post a comment there -"Kommentar schreiben" (with limited visibility for solvers and the author only - "alle, die das Rätsel gelöst haben, sowie für den Autor" in the DropDown) or describe it ...

Re: croco-puzzle

You could start with it's little brother . If you generally like skyscrapers also other puzzles from the user "Hausigel" are recommended (14x14 skyscaper for example :D). And - like most puzzles in the portal with such high ratings - they are solvable with a completely logical solving path. Although...

Re: croco-puzzle

Well, as there are always the ones starting directly after midnight times over 10 hours are quite possible. So the only thing you have to worry about is that more than half of the people have enough time to solve this one ;). Calavera (puzzle addict who spent the night until after 3 to solve the Inc...

Then the time of the last solver is taken as median which often results in very high points for those who finished.

Re: croco-puzzle

Thank you Chris While at the beginning I was trying and playing just for fun, (which means, if I could not see an easy solution to a puzzle I would probably give up) recently I have started playing more committed to avoid giving away points easily. When you have a no finish you probably will lose w...

Re: Rundwege-Wettbewerb [Loop contest] (6-7 Nov 2010)

It's a lovely set of puzzles, there were a couple where even Google Translate left me scratching my head on the rules but I got there eventually. I think I had correct answers to 9 and 10 in the time, but they don't seem to have registered in my score and my finish time is very early - I assume I e...

Re: Request: pyramid puzzles

I can see 2 possible reasons for your problem: - It is possible that you already lost the page without waiting for the response from the server. - Or you had temporarily no connection when committing the results and the message you got told you exactly that. In both cases starting the applet again h...

Well, for me it's only a little bit training for the German Championship in two weeks, so I started without ambitions of a top position. So no harm done on my side ;). Apart from unexpected surprises :D I liked the contest even though Sudokus usually belong to my least favorite logic puzzles. Thanks...

Most of the competitions of the German Logic Masters can also be tried later although one will not appear in the highscore table then. I'm not sure if this'll be the case for this one but I guess there's a relatively good chance.

Also there is an older contest contest containing a few of the same puzzles and english instructions. It could also be used as training for this one. Additionally when you have a look at the instructions of the current one there are some instructions with a comment like "(Portal: Geraden-Rundweg)". ...
