It is probably the printer. I've had the same experience before, printing pink usually means you have to refill cyan ink.

Re: WPF Puzzle GP 2016
I expect the puzzles to be a lot easier than in the previous round; my guess is, total points / 10 equals the time in minutes that is expected from the top solvers. Last year, every round was normalized to 600 points, and the target for the puzzle authors was a round that could be finished in 60 min...

Re: Sudoku Classic
There is no such thing as a best solution. If your puzzle has five solutions that meet all conditions, it doesn't matter which solution you had in mind; all solutions are created equal.

Stop making these announcements, please. Show us one of these supposedly hard puzzles or don't, but the way you present yourself at the moment is just annoying.

Re: Hausigel Contest Series
An updated version of the instruction booklet has been uploaded:
- The Divide and Conquer example had two solutions, which is fixed now.
- The rules for Plates and Doors have been amended: "In the beginning, all doors are closed."
Thanks to kiwijam for noticing.

Re: LMI Competition - Word Show (17-19 Nov 2012)
I find the nurikabe was very easy, considering that each letter was part of a different name. and yes, every name had to form a snake like strip. The assignment of PAL and BRAM were immediate, shortly after NIKOLA; then the pair ULRICH and HIDEAKI, then the others. Definitively not worth the highes...

Re: WPC/WSC preparation
These three hour sessions will almost certainly consist of several rounds. In fact, I do not recall a single three hour round in any WPC since 2000; there may have been 150 minutes rounds, but very rarely. A typical WPC consists of: 2-3 long rounds (90-120 minutes), several intermediates (about 60 m...

That's about what I did, only a bit slower after getting the 1-3 block in column 2. One thing I notice that is interesting to me is that uvo is getting into candidate mode very fluidly. Is there some other way to access it than hitting #? I might have to remap that key to not be shift+3 because I'v...
